Diencephalon (core of the brain)
It has 4 parts:
- Thalamus: oval/football shaped
- Hypothalamus: the triangular shape below the thalamus
- Infindumbulm: a narrow part coming off of the hypothalamus
- Pituitary: the end of the infindumulum off of the hypothalamus
- Epithalamus: pineal gland, it sits on top of the thalamus and curves down
- Subthalamus: the nucleus (cluster of neurons in the CNS), contains the cell bodies, right under and posterior to the thalamus
